Zambia Research and Education Network (ZAMREN) is currently extending the reach of its eduroam services. Eduroam is a service that allows users from participating institutions to gain secure access to wireless networks using their standard username (email format)/ and password credentials as they do at their home institution for wireless access. It is based on a federated authentication model where user usernames and passwords are validated at their home institution and enable access to authorized network services that are controlled by the visited institution.
A wireless service for educational institutions
Eduroam (education roaming) allows users from participating institutions to securely access the Internet from any eduroam-enabled institution
Eduroam can be used in all participating sites, including educational institutions and public places. In Zambia, these sites span all ten provinces and include various educational and research institutions such as universities, colleges of nursing and midwifery, colleges of education, trades training institutes, vocational and technical colleges, research institutions, STEM secondary schools, and community development colleges.
