Mission: To provide a secure, affordable and quality national digital infrastructure and services for research and education for social and economic development.

The objective of ZAMREN is to be a vehicle for collective representation of research and education network built along the ideals of fibre networking vision of the Southern Africa Regional Universities Association (SARUA) and further advance the Pan-African Research and education vision of connecting all African Universities, Colleges and Research Institutions to each other and the world.

JOB TITLE: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
JOB PURPOSE:
To implement the strategic goals and objectives of ZAMREN, enable the Executive Board to fulfill its governance function, and give direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organization's philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Support operations and administration of the Executive Board by advising and informing Board members, and, interfacing between the Board and other stakeholders.
• Develop and implement Strategic Plans and provide strategic leadership.
• Identify, develop and direct the implementation of business strategies.
• Mobilize resources for business growth and sustainability.
• Prepare yearly a budget for Board approval and prudently manage the organization's resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations.
• Manage the human resource of the organization according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations.
• Plan and direct the organization activities to achieve stated/agreed targets and standards for financial and trading performance, quality, culture and legislative adherence
• Develop executive team members
• Direct functions and performance of ZAMREN via the executive team
• Establish Research and Education Network connections to immediate neighbouring countries and to the global Research and Education communities
• Establish ICT services and platforms to enhance academic and research output and establish capacity building programs to enable uptake of the services and platforms.
• Lobby Government for good will and conducive regulatory frame work on the implementation of the country wide optic fibre projects and connectivity to enhance academic and research output.
• Ensure ZAMREN and its mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in strong and positive image to relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain and develop organizational culture, values and reputation with all staff, tertiary and research institutions, suppliers, partners and regulatory bodies

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
• Grade 12 Certificate or its equivalent
• Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering in ICT or related field
• Master of Science/ Master of Engineering in ICT or related filed
• Master of Business Administration or PhD in relevant fields will be an added advantage
• Must have professional Competences in ICT Networks, ICT Systems and Services, Cyber Security, ICT policies and regulations,
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience at senior management level, in ICT industry
• Must have proof of Membership to Professional bodies: Full member of either ICTAZ or EIZ
